Hello,
I love my 12" powerbook, but there are sometimes I want to go somewhere and have the ability to type text, but on something much smaller.
What I've got at the moment is a Psion series 5mx, which is good, but the screen is very murky and I've got to convert everything back and fore.
Does anyone know of something in the same size bracket (new or used) that has a keyboard that I can touch-type on at much the same speed as my PB, a colour screen and editing of native word or even rtf files.
Thanks for any help,
David

2 suggestions, both phones!
o2 XDA Exec 3G phone runs Windows Mobile 5 so should be able to handle Word files
Or a Nokia Communicator, there are 2 models, 9300 (below) and 9500.
(edit) 3rd suggestion, a PDA with an external IR or bluetooth travel keyboard.

Thanks for the reply - they're both good ideas, but I'm not convinced that the keyboards are good enough. Does anyone have any experience with them?
Thanks.

All good ideas, but do you really think that I could type files thousands of words in length on those keyboards? I am prepared to get something a bit bigger (as long as it's no more than half the weight or size of my PB) - maybe a Psion series 7/netbook, but does anyone know if it can edit RTF files natively?
Thanks,
David

If you want a full-size (laptop) keyboard, the smallest screen would be about 10.6 inches. Something like the Sony Vaio T-series would be your best option.

PDA with a fold out keyboard.
My Dell Axim's keyboard is about 80% as tall and 90% as wide as a regular laptop keyboard.

Actually, I might have been won over with the idea of a PPC phone - after seeing the O2 one, it really looks good, is pretty small and the keyboard seems to be as usable as it could be for the size. However, what is the experience of using a version of windows like? Is the joy of having MS word going to be tarnished by virii and general kludginess?
