Just a quick question. I am really getting to use iChatAV alot, but using my DV camcorder instead of an iSight. As the iSights come with a built in mount to perfectly enable it to sit right on top of the moniter at a perfect position, I would like to be able to do something like this with my camcorder. The new iMac's have this built in iSight located right smack in the middle as well, giving a perfect viewing angle. I realize that I cannot really put my camcorder right above my moniter (Powerbook, 15"), but is there a solution that would work well? I was thinking maybe a small tripod or something to put on the side of my desk on the left/right of my Powerbook and then just position it towards my face. Currently, I just set my camcorder at an angle, sitting on my wallet to give it some upward elevation. But obviously, this is about as temporary as you can get. Please help, I know I am not the only one in this position! Thanks alot

A small portable camera tripod? There are a few of those around and the thread at the bottom of the camera or camcorder should be pretty much universal. Failing that, how is your DIY/metal work? You might find a metal clamp (attach to the desk, not the PB!) that can be modified to hold the camera on a long screw of appropriate thread (M5 is it?). I rigged something like this for a project a while ago and it worked perfectly well.

Consider how much this will cost though .... there are plenty of webcams cheaper then an iSight that might be more practical or less risky
