The external enclosure I have has 2 firewire ports and 1 usb port on the back of it, so here's my question, could I have 2 comps hooked up to this 1 on each firewire prt? or 1 on usb and 1 on firewire? And could they both access the drive at the same time?

Thanks!

Sorry you'll have to use one computer at a time.

For two computers to share an external drive, you would need a network storage device. Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822162701

While true, it would be an unwise investment for casual use at home.
You are better off leaving the drive mounted on one computer and using file sharing across your network. Or if you want to get fancy, buy a Beige G3 or B&W and make a server. Even that would be half the cost of the network drive.
