Ok mine is not working properly? Works left, right and down but not up? I hope it just needs a clean. Anyone?

Same thing happened to mine a while ago... wouldn't scroll up.
Although the ball moved, there was no little clicking noise as I moved it, so think it wasn't making contact, or moving the sensor inside.
I pressed it around a bit, pushing it forwards and backwards while it was depressed, and it seemed to solve the problem.

I had similar intermittent issues with mine. I ended up taking it back to the Apple store and getting a new one.

same with mine, but doesn't scroll down.. i bought it when they first came out, and i don't have box or receipt.. will they still exchange it at an apple store?

I don't know -- you've obviously had it less than a year. I bet it depends who you talk to at the store. They exchanged mine without even trying it but I had the box, receipt etc.
