I have a brand new Canon Pixima MP500 that I love except for one problem. I cannot get it to scan at all. Whenever I launch MP Navigator 2.0, it says http://img278.imageshack.us/img278/4548/picture18eo.png. I have installed the latest drivers for the printer and the scanner but it still wont scan. Any thoughts?

Yup, I downloaded and installed them multiple times yet still unable to scan. What version of OS X are you using. I'm using 10.4.3

Hmm . . . it works fine on mine too. Titanium Powerbook running 10.4.3. Try using Image Capture and see if that works (it does on mine), that might help narrow down if there is some kind of hardware issue going on.

I love this device, beautiful scans, beautiful prints. Slightly off topic, has anyone figured out how to get the duplex printing to work on the Mac? It's easy to get on my PC, but I haven't figured it out on this side of the pond.

The image capture thing works, thanks for the help. For your problem with duplex printing, when i go to print something duplex, i check the box that says automatic duplex printing that is under the duplex printing and margin drop down menu.

Plug the printer into your USB port and open the Printer Setup Utility (in /Applications/Utilities). Under Default Browser, the printer should show up as MP500. Under the Print Using pulldown menu choose either Auto Select or Canon IJ Printer.

Write back and let me know if that works or not.

I've had the same issue and been unable to resolve it. The printer will not show up in the printer setup list. It's like the latest drivers just don't work. This is on a 1.67 GHz PB running 10.3.9. The Navigator doesn't recognize the drivers, so it quits with the same error message previously posted. I can't get the thing recognized by TWAIN acquire either.

hi!
I've asked for your help some months ago; my powerbook wasn't able to find pixma's MP 500 drivers, obviously installed. After some days of work I've resolved my problem. Well, two days ago unexpectedly my mac has lost drivers. Printer disappeared and if I try to reinstall drivers I can't see them in the list of canon drivers.
I don't remember how I solved my problem in june but I'm sure that I've seen drivers in the right place.
Can you help me, please?
Thanks, floriana

Looks like only the print driver is universal - does anyone know if there are any plans in the works for more updates?

My wife just bought a MP500 and she loves it, except that Photoshop CS2 stopped launching. I tracked it down via Adobe support and they said that the scanner is not TWAIN compatible and to disable the TWAIN plugin by renaming it. Sure enough, that fixed Photoshop, but it means she can't scan from within Photoshop. What's really odd is that she said it was working and just stopped. Reinstalling Photoshop and the scanner driver did not help.

Anyone else seeing this or not seeing this?

I'm just downloading the print + the scan drivers, both universal.
Two separate links, I searched under the model of my MP

Only the MP Navigator seems to still be a PPC...
