hi all. i am having trouble with a few sync issues on my treo. any help would really be appreciated. also, if you know of any good forums for the treo that would be cool. thx!

issues:

1) can't sync via bluetooth. it seems that i can only sync with the cable. when i try and get isync to do something it says that the necessary services are not available on my device. is there something special i have to do? i ran the device configuration utility with isync and everything is enabled on my treo......

1.1) is the version of bluetooth available on the treo limited to only 6 character pairing strings? can i not configure a password for pairing?

2) address book is not putting contacts into their "catagories" so everything ends up being "unfiled" on my treo. this is a pain, as i have a boatload of contacts.

3) address book is not putting birthdays into the treo contact information.

4) memos are not making it into the treo. i keep my "notes" in stickies on my mac. how do you get your memos/notes or whatever onto the treo?

1 Are you running the Bluetooth Setup wizard from the Mac? What should happen is that after the Treo is paired, you go into the HotSync app on the Treo, change the connection name to your Mac's name, then tap the HotSync icon. Palm Desktop will still go through its normal sync procedure but will be slower over BT.

1.1 No, when you run the wizard on the Mac, it will pic a random number. It will probably be 5-6 characters.

2 & 3. This isn't supported in the iSync conduit. For that, you have to use The Missing Sync 5 (TMS). That's what I use instead.

4. Memos are not synced to Stickies. You have to use the Palm Desktop app or if you use TMS there is an app you can use instead.

thanks a lot, i appreciate the help.

1 so i fixed the bt sync issue by going into the treo hotsync preferences and setting up the bt sync feature to my powerbook. seems to be taking a long time during "synchronizing network profiles2".

1.1 bummer on not being able to setup the password as it is best to use 8 characters that are alphanumeric. is this something that is available in the newer bt protocol?

2/3 damn. i was perusing treo central and saw this about tms. looks cool, so i may get that.

4 can i sync my palm desktop memos to my stickies? that would be a kludge workaround i suppose.

guess i need to consider getting tms.

thanks again.
