Bluetooth keyboard with no bite

	I just set up a new 20 inch iMac with bluetooth mouse & keyboard. The mouse works great, but the keyboard works only a few inches away from the computer. I changed the batteries, but it's still useless unless I'm right up next to the screen. I also turned the keyboard on/off. Does this sound like a bad bluetooth keyboard? Thanks!
