My friend has the same iSight model I do. He has a Quicksilver 2002 running 10.4.3. His volume keeps zooming back up to maximum input volume after he closes Preferences and causes feedback and booming no matter where he positions the microphone.

In System Profiler, his model is showing as 0x8 instead of iSight like my G5 does.

He has FOURE iSight Units showing: All with different Unit Sofware version numbers and Spec ID. My SpecID is 41005 and his shows as 0xA02D and 0xA27.

I'm thinking something is wrong with his QS as he got it from me and it has a fried Secondary IDE channel.

Anyone have any ideas about why his volume won't stay where he selects it AND why he has four iSight Units showing under Firewire in System Profiler?

get him to repair the permissions first, if that doesn't work download the combo update to 10.4.3, disconnect all the firewire devices and install.

still no joy then i guess a archive install will be needed.

Does the iSight work on another Mac?
