Hi, I canīt burn in Mac OS X 10.1.4 (Toast 5.1.3 and DiscBurner) with my QPS 8X4X32 FireWire, there is no way. I can burn with Mac OS 9.1 perfectly.

With my Pismo FireWire I can burn under Mac OS X 10.1.4 and the same QPS burner, then I think there is a trouble/bug/anything you want, with the FireWire drivers of the B/W G3 under Mac OS X.

Itīs simple, can you burn with the B/W G3 and a FireWire burner?

You could pull the drive out of the firewire case and put it inside the B/W case. If you need DVD you could also replace the DVD with a combo drive.

I have a superdrive in my B/W.

There is another thread on here with horrible stories on firwire and B&W G3 machines. Long story short: many of those people including myself have had to go and purchase 3rd party firewire PCI cards to get firewire to work. I did not even have it (with my Sony Spressa 145 drive) under OS9.

Thanks for reply !

climber: I canīt put the drive inside the B&W case because I burn cd with my Pismo too, despite it the QPS case is nice and good looking... Whoa!, a SuperDrive inside a B&W, you rules ! ( I read another post where you said that and the time to burn a dvd with iDVD )

cptodd: yeah, I saw it too, my B&W is a rev.b. The only thing I canīt understand is why they (burner, soft, G3) burn cd perfectly under Mac OS 9, but not under Mac OS X... ?? If I can burn cd under Mac OS 9.1 the QPS is well, the FireWire ports are well... then, what am I missing with this under Mac OS X ?

Thanks again.

Mechanism inside the drive is not supported in OSX. Look at APS, find the drive brand, and then hack the plugin. I have CDRW drive with Philips inside, which is not supported by both iTunes and Disc Burner in both OSX and OS9, but by hacking authoring hacks I got it work perfectly. Toast worked with it fine all the time. And yes, I use BW rev2 and Firewire. Because you can burn in OS9 it implies software problem in OSX.
