So I've had my iMac for the past month and at the same time have been using this mighty mouse. At first, I thought it was great to include the second button, since I have recently switched from the dreaded PCs. Now after a month of usage, I find it pretty annoying. First of all, it's egronimically challenging because of it's small size. Apple really needs to know that this is a desktop mouse, not a mouse to be carried around on business trips. By the way, I dunno if i have bigger hands than normal - 6 ft tall and can palm a basketball - most likely, a lil bigger than average, but still . . . someone should make a shell to go over the mouse (free idea for any entrepeneur). Ok, so on to the next complaint . . the friggin trackball in the middle. My basic problem is that in order to scroll down a page, I have to scroll directly down with the trackball. Any deviation off the path and the page clicks back or forward. This level of precision is pretty hard when I just want to casually surf the net.

Those two complaints are big enough for me to seriously consider buying another mouse. I don't need the horizontal scrolling!

I think that's a fair score

Not a *great* mouse, the only gripe I have using it on my iMac (got the mouse after, revb) is that it has no weight which is a big issue for me but I'm probably just being picky

Try the MS Laser Mouse 6000... cheaper than the Mighty Mouse, two real buttons (so you can right and left click at the same time), two independent side buttons, great scroll wheel, and incredible accuracy/precision/responsiveness.

For a while MS was using these dreaded 2-axis scroll wheels that didn't click, but they finally dumped them for this mouse.

IMHO, I think Apple hit a foul ball with the Mighty Mouse... perhaps v2 will be what we have all been waiting for?

I actually like it more than that. The right-click thing is the only annoying part, but I'd only really worry about it if I played games often or was doing crucial work where a missed click could be dangerous. I love the scroll ball, and I don't mind the ergonomics at all. I actually like the tactile feel of a mouse click.

question - do most of your palms actually touch the mouse?

personally, i end up moving this small mighty mouse with my fingers more than anything.

The way I hold it doesn't either. I can make it touch if I use a different grip, but I cant get used to it.

Funny the 20" inch I got today....I don't like the mighty mouse it came with. It feels different or something . I think the side buttons are out more. Anyways I'm keeping My old one and including the new one when I sell My 17"

Yep. When I first got the MM, I tried the palm method. My hand would quickly cramp and I became frustrated with it. I put it away for a few weeks even. Then I went back to it and use it like you, with mostly my fingers. I can now say the MM is even more comfortable for me than our logitech which is comfortable in the palm.

What I especially like now is the scroll ball. I have much more control with this than the scroll wheel and with no discomfort in my hand.

I never use the side buttons on MM. I just think they are too difficult to squeeze and if they were easier to squeeze they would get in my way when I am clicking and dragging.

I am still hopeful that v2 will be a mini mouse so I can take it with me when I travel.

This isn't at all about iMacs. It's about the Mighty Mouse, a peripheral. So this thread belongs in the Peripherals forum. Off it goes!
