A question for those who have LCD's

I know they have color shifting atributes when you near 160 degrees from the centre (they go dark blue right?).... but, if your looking at it head on, and then move say 10 degrees left or right (ie just a bit, small chair move), does the color change at all? I notice that on old laptop LCD displays they do.... is that true for modern lcd's?

Any info on this would be appreciated

I think that kinda depends on the quality of the LCD. On my PowerMac I had a 17" Apple LCD which was very, very nice. You pretty much had to go around the screen 180 before the colors would really shift. However, on my LCD iMac turning the screen 10-20 will cause a subtle color shift.

I have a new Formac Gallery 1740 LCD monitor and if I look from about 45 degrees off axis I don't see a the screen change colors, but it is a little less bright. The colors on the monitor really do seem to stay the same no matter what the angle is.

Oh k, very interesting, thanks.

I am considering getting an apple 17" LCD (I understand it has a very high level of quality, beaten only by the formac display). I have only seen budget priced laptop displays, which exhibit a large amount of brightness and colour shifting for even the smallest 5 degree movement. I felt that sort of defeated the purpose of a display, if its gunna look different from every angle by a reasonable amount.

This sounds good tho
