I am just curious. I have been using my iPod without a case since I got it more than a month ago and no real noticeable scratches... I wipe the fingerprints (everybody wants to touch it) a couple of times a day but that's about it.
Anyone else using iPod without a case?
Cheers.

I did for a bit while I was waiting for my case to arrive, and it got quite scratched up.

Yeah. I had an iPod that got stolen that I used without a case. However, when I get my replacement iPod, I intend to use it with a case. Scratches happen. Thank God for credit card purchase protection!

I'm using mine without a case, although I'd like to get one. I'm just having trouble finding the perfect case. I want one that adds no bulk, doesn't obscure the beauty of the iPod, provides perfect protection, and is free. However, I'll settle for little bulk, only some obstruction of the iPod's appearance, good protection, and -- although it pains me -- I will pay money for it.
I ain't using a neoprene case -- too cheap looking for a $500 device. I'm tossed up between a leather case and one of those translucent sleeves (iGlove? Something like that ...).

I use mine without a case. I just don't like cases as they obscure the design. However, no matter how careful I am in handling my iPod, it still scratches
Next time Apple should use anti scratch material, like the ones used for watches. I think it makes sense for a $500 device.

I'd say that 50% of the time my iPod is out of its case, I actually love the scratches, adds character to it.

I never used a case during my iPod's first 2.5 months of use. It was scratched up pretty good too. And like some of you here, that didn't matter because I thought it added some character to my iPod. Then one day as I was fiddling with my keys to open the front door, my iPod slipped out of my jacket pocket and fell face first onto the concrete. Everything was fine except the jog wheel was extremely loose. Thank god this happened during my 90 day warranty. I sent the iPod back to Apple and they replaced it with a brand new one. Now I make damn sure my iPod stays inside it's Mareware neoprene case. And unlike Moosecat, I've really come to like the neoprene case. Plus it gives me a place to store my ear buds.

I always keep my iPod in my jacket pocket, I don't mind the scratches as long as they are on the back. I plan to buy a case from extreme mac because that's the only case I found that makes my iPod look even better

I keep my iPod in my shirt pocket as I use it everyday on the train to work. Like Moosecat I would like a case, but one that would allow easy access to the controls without having to remove the iPod from the case and one that doesn't cover the looks too much as otherwise it'll get too bulky.

I bought my iPod to use it: not to baby it; therefore, no case needed.

The Xtreme Mac iPod case is fantastic. elegant, easy-to-use and it comes with a superb belt clip. Now, I've never been a fan of belt clip things, but this one is rather good.

One more thing about the case. I'm constantly driving and use the iPod in the car - the case is great because I can just snap it into the dashboard holder-thingy and not have it slide around verywhere while I'm driving. But, I guess it isn't for everyone.

Nope, don't use one either. I've had it since December and it has been pretty hacked up- I gave it a good, visible scratch on the front. But as long as I can read the screen I don't really care if it gets messed up. It's a tough little machine...

I got my iPod and love it, and rue the fact that I did not buy a case for it. I use it everyday to and from school and it has its fair share of scratches, although I try to think of it as a little tough warrior. Oh well, as long as it plays, no complaints here. But, by the way, does anyone know how to get scratches out from both the front AND the back of the iPod itself? once the 90 days are up, I'm going to have to find something to do with the back, all it shows is fingerprints and this nice 1/4 inch group of scratches :-) thanx

No case, but I keep mine in one of those leather bags you get with expensive walkmans.

I recently got my iPod an currently don't have a case for it, however I DO play on buying one. I mainly want a case so that it won't get all scratched or dirty up in my backpack while I'm traveling or going to school. When I'm actually using it I might not keep it in it's case.

I just stick the iPod in one of my Oakley microfiber bags for transporting it around, but when I use it I just put it in my hand. It gets scratched up sometimes, but I've come to accept that by now.

I bought a case, not so much for the scratch protection but because I wanted something that I could clip on my belt or my gym shorts instead of having to dig through my pockets when I wanted to change a setting.

I'm using the Marware case now, but prior to that I had no case at all.
It's pretty scratched up.
