I am thinking about ordering one of these so i can hook up my ibook to the internet when im on the road and dont have access to wifi Link
as you can see my phone is a samsung vga 1000 which doesnt have bluetooth. i was wondering if you guys think this would work? it says it comes with a cd for drivers, but the drivers are for pc. but still, i dont know if maybe the phone would just pop up on my desktop and i could just use it as a internet connection from there. any thoughts?
thanks!

I have a VGA1000 too, and Sprint's service. I regularly connect the phone to my Powerbook with a USB data cable to get onto the internet. When you get that cable, take the driver CD and throw it away! As is typical on the Mac, it will just work. All you'll do is plug the phone in and it will be recognized as a USB modem. Then you put the network settings into the modem panel of the Network Prefpane. I can't give you the settings right now because I don't have my phone plugged into my Powerbook.

Don't buy any Sprint internet service, just use your voice minutes, which are unlimited on nights and weekends, right? I would only consider the Sprint internet if you plan to use this connection method a lot. Sprint discourages using your voice minutes because they'd prefer you pay their exorbitant internet fee. But if you only connect occasionally and don't abuse it they will not care.
My connection speed is a little bit faster than 56K dialup-more like 70-80K.
As for the cable, I bought it at Radio Shack.

Sprint's VGA1000 is really Samsung's A620. Google for the Samsung A620 data cable and you'll find many more. It looks like Radio Shack doesn't carry that cable any more.
