I have turned on robustness interference. And I don't have a cordless phone or microwave nearby. Is there anything else I can do. Will adding more RAM help? thanks.

Adding RAM is always good BUT it won't help your reception. The problem is that lovely aluminum case reduces the efficiency of the built in antenna. Powerbooks are notoriously bad at reception. Try repositioning the base station closer to the work area, or trying different orientations. There are some third party antennae you can buy for the Powerbook but it involves snaking a wire out through the PCMCIA dock and affixing an antenna to the outside of the machine, not elegant. Investigate options for boosting the antenna on the base station if it is one with a replaceable antenna.

Buy a bigger antenna for your access point.

I'm using airport express and a cable modem. If I got an airport base station too would that help?

Ouch. Airport Express isn't known for having good (or even OK range). I'd buy an access point with a better and/or removable/upgradeable antenna. The airport base station is grossly overpriced. I like D-Link and they have a variety of antenna upgrades if the stock one isn't good enough for you.
