Hi

I just installed a second IDE HD in my G4 and everything seems to work fine. My question is....is there a "break in" period on these thing or can i assume it will be stable from day one. I`ve done some copies/opening of files and folders and have not run into any problems or "freaky" behaviour yet (just a few hrs since i installed it).

Thanks
Tom

They say you shouldn't drive it any more than 55 MPH (88 KPH for you folks on the other side of the pond ) for the first 1000 miles.

As far as I know, there is no "break-in" period for hard drives. I usually throw everything I've got at a new hd right after I install it just so that I know there aren't any data corruption issues. Try copying a very large .img file to the new hard drive and then mounting it. If there are no problems, then the checksum will come out fine.

Enjoy that new hard drive smell while it lasts!
