I wondered if any one could give me some feed back on the period of time it takes for the bat in the iPOD to discharge when not in use (if it does indeed do this)?
When I charge my iPOD, use it for say two hours and then don't use it at all for 2 weeks, I find that when I go to use it next, I need to recharge it again. In theory there should still be around 8hrs of battery life left! What's going on? The iPOD is only 3 months old.
This seems to be a common thing with my iPOD and I wondered if any other iPOD owners have noticed this too?
Any comments or suggestions are most welcome.

I thought that I read on Apple's help for the iPod that it takes about 30 days of non-use before the battery needs recharging. Not sure where I read that (I'm not at home now), but it was either in a tech-note, or in the iPod help.

Thanks. I went to the Apple site but failed to find the page and details you mentioned. If you can post the link for the information you mention, I'd be very grateful to you.
Cheers,

I have also had that same experiance. The Apple page might mean a fully charged bat will last 30 days.

How long do you get with your iPOD between use Vs charge?

If it's still under warranty, you may want to have it looked at. I had a similar problem, resulting in my iPod not holding a charge longer than overnight, eventually. I had to have it replaced, actually two days after the warranty expired, but still at no charge, fortunately. The new one works great, no repeat of the same problem and it's been a month since I replaced it.

If you go to the Apple Help (On your mac, not Apple's webpage), and type in the following query: "How do I charge the battery", it says:
"A fully charged battery provides about 10 hours of playing time. After about 28 days of no use, the battery needs to be charged" (iPod Help).
Hope this helps.

Just wanted to let you know that your concern may be a symptom of a larger problem. Many people, including myself have had this same problem and it has turned out to be badly soldered connections around the firewire port. For most people, this problem has cropped up just after the warrenty has expired and Apple has be most unsympathetic. If your iPod is under warrenty still - RETURN IT NOW!. It is $255.95 for them to replace the unit once it is out of warrenty. For further information please check

Good luck to you - I've certainly had little satisfaction in this matter.
