Thanks WDL. Let's tray again. I am working on a dual network, NT and Mac. The printer should be connected to a G3 running OS 8.5. We are using an eithernet DCHP connection to connect to the NT network. We do not have direct connections to the PC through the Macs but apple talk connects the apples together. I want to be able to use an LW 360 to print from any of the Macs (the G3 and about 7 iMacs). Right now, the I cannot even get the LW to print from one computer. I have heard that there are some problems with the LW and networks. I hope this is enough information for some to help me.

Can only tell you how my simple little network works - but from this you may be able
to garner what you need:

2 iMacs connected by ethernet to ports 1 and 2 of a Kingston SOHO 4 port hub. ($35 U.S.)
Ethernet runs from port 3 to an Asanté Friendly Local Talk Bridge ($70 U.S.)
The link port of the hub is connected by ethernet to an Alcatel DSL modem.
The Asanté is connected by LocalTalk to a Performa 6360 (printer port) - the 6360 is
connected to the LWS 360 from the modem port (LocalTalk).

If you dropped the Performa out of the above equation - you would be going straight from
the Asanté to the LWS 360.

Both iMacs can print to the LWS 360 (as can the Performa) and it doesn't matter if the
Performa is on or off.

When fired up it all works like a charm.

Look for the FastNet brand of LocalTalk adaptors - they have built in on/off termination
switches - mutch better than those little wiry gizmoes hanging out in the air.

Your situation is more complicated than mine, but perhaps this gives some help in direction.

For really expert assistance - go over to the MacFixit forum and check out the Troubleshooting
Network section - look for any postings by:

he's sure a whizbang on computers, and particularly - networking. Email him, and I bet
he'll draw you a fool proof solution that will also be the easiest and cheapest.

Hope this helps.

I have a 360select at home connected and printable from 3+ computers (dual platform network).

If you are running an NT machine you could connect the printer directly to one NT machine via the parallel port. This machine can then run its printer services to allow all PCs on your network to send jobs to it. If you are unfamiliar with NT setup, ask your local NT support person on how to configure a local printer with print services on NT.

Then for your appletalk users, connect your printer to the appletalk network, using the appletalk port on the back of the printer. Use an appletalk->ethernet bridge hardware (I use an iSonic bridge). Then plug the appletalk from the printer into the bridge and the ethernet port from the bridge into your ethernet network.

If you don't have the ability to buy the bridge you could have a mac set nearby (in addition to the PC), then use the "Print Sharing" options from the MacOS to share the printer on the network via the local mac. This would be the same as how the NT machine shares the printer for PCs. You'd connect the localtalk cable directly into the mac port and have the mac with ethernet connected to the ethernet network you have. By using the laserwriter bridge software on that mac you should be able to share it with other macs on the network.

Good luck. Vive la Macintosh!
