About a week ago my 4-5 year old ACD greeted me when I got home from school with a blinking power light. The pattern was short - short - long. I looked on Apple's support site and found that this was the ACD's method of sending me a message that it was having a backlight problem. Disconnecting the display from the video card and reconnecting it works for a while, but I need to have it serviced.

I've read on Apple's discussion boards that this can cost as much as $750. A new 20" ACD is $700 with my educator's discount. I hate the idea of trashing a good monitor for what is probably a few dollars in parts. So I've been looking for other options. Has anyone had experinece with MoniServ in Hayward, CA? Their price is $229 parts and labor included.

Thanks,
Jim
