not possible? say it ain't so
I think I've experimented with just about all the settings and doesn't look like it can be done. I've heard that it is not possible because OSX does not support customizable print media or something like that?!?
I picked up a Stylus Photo 820 cheap as a dedicated photo printer just for the sole purpose of borderless prints but it looks like I can only pull this borderless stunt off if I boot OS9 at startup and use Epson's printing software that uses the OS9 Epson 820 printer driver. Counter-intuitive to my master plan to completely do away with OS9 and do everything in OSX. Booting up in OS9 just to make borderless prints is a time-consuming task and quite frankly a pain in the a$$.
It seems that under Classic mode in OSX, borderless printing is not possible regardless of the settings because an app running in OS9 "classic" emulation still outputs via the OSX Epson 820 printer driver.
Anyone here figure out a solution?
Is this even possible with software or should I just start hoping Jaguar will support customizable print sizes?
This sucks.

It might help a bit to understand just what you mean by "borderless". Are you trying to make the printer fill the entire page? Most printers have an "imageable area", so basically there's something like 1/10" all around which can't be printed on. This is even true for higher end postscript laser printers.
It can be a real pain, but one thing to consider is printing at the maximum size possible and trimming off the excess white area.
Assuming wer'e on the same page so to speak.

he has an epson that can do borderless prints, meaning that in OS9 he can get a print on a 8.5X11 pice of paper with out the 1?10 line around.
Is there any Epson specific drivers other then the standard OSX one?

That's what I was asking. The OSX drivers for epson photo printers that are capable of borderless printing do everything except the custom paper sizing... OSX epson drivers can't do borderless prints, banners, and other freaky stuff.
The OS9 epson driver however can print borderless with no problems. I've printed out a few nice 4x6 photos with no borders - nada. zilch. zip, not even even a hairline border. But who the hell wants to keep booting OS9 from startup?! What a pain it the butt.
I believe Canon's newer mid-priced inkjets are also capable of doing borderless prints. I might have to try those out if I can't resolve this issue with my epson and osx. Hopefully Canon's OSX drivers can do borderless? Or maybe this problem is an OSX limitation that can only be resolved by a newer version of the operating system...
anyone? bueller?

That is a serious problem, because i was going to buy a new printer, with a better rez and boarderless, but if it can't happen in OSX then I won't bother. My best advice is ask around and see if any one with a cannon, HP, Lexmark, and see if they have the same results.

Yup its true OS X DOES NOT support borderless printing. I just picked up the Canon s750 printer because it was suppose to print "insanely" fast - but in OS X it is dog slow with my CPU meter pegged at nearly 93%. To add insult to injury I called the tech support guy at canon to ask whats going on with printing pics out on 4x6 and he said OS X does not yet support borderless printing. well I guess I can hopein 10.2...
