Years ago i was a regular user of Datadesk's "Trackboard" keyboards, neat compact devices with a built-in trackball. Work was fast and easy with them. But when used with newer computers with a USB adapter they screwed with the OS. Now, without them, I think i'm developing carpal tunnel syndrome from reaching between the keyboard (in keyoard drawer) and the mouse on the desktop.
For two years they've been promising a USB version, and failing to deliver. It's maddening, but really more embarassing: One of their people told me he thought he could bring one of the two 'boards I had ordered to me at macworld expo NYC last year; i've been told similar stories for a year before that, and for the year since. Most recently, last month tI was told the product was on its way here & stopped in customs. then when I called today the man who identified himself as responsible for the project said he had "a prototype" on his desk. I asked if he honestly believed they'd have a product out by this summer's expo. "One would hope," he said.
Does any other company have a comparable product? If not, can anyone tell me why? It seems like a great product idea but surely is one lots of companies could get to market in less than two years! I'm insulted by the idea of continuing to do business with them, and yet i want the product they propose to bring to market and don't want to spite myself just to make a point about their ineptness.
Any suggestions?
