I have an external hard drive (Firewire and USB) that I connected to a PC to retrive some data (backup) and now I want to drag those data (mostly Word files and images) onto my Mac.

But ...

I had to format the drive with the Windows computer, in order for it to recognize the drive. So now, all the data are on a PC-formatted drive.

Shouldn't I be able to read those data on my Mac? I can't. What am I doing wrong?

it should work fine, even if you formatted it NTFS.
mac os can read NTFS drives and FAT.

plug it in and open disk utitlity /Applications/Utilities and see if it sees that there is a disk plugged in. if it is not finding anything when your drive is plugged in you might need to try different usb/firewire ports, or a different mac and see what's going on.
