Hey guys, my soundsticks which ive had since september of 2000 might be going on me. every once in a while i just lose all sound out of them and i am forced to use the iMac's speakers. sometimes a restart doesn't even work. I have both OS9 and OSX and the problem is in both of the systems.

can this be fixed?

Ya should talk to harmon kardon about it maybe... I don't know. Someone may respond here, but to me there does not sound like there is much you can do.

My soundstikcs crapped out on me too. You know that little bass volume adjust knob? Well it somehow got loose, and my bass volume was cut in half, and then within a week it was gone.

I could move the knob up and to the left and it would work, but when I took away the pressure it died back to what it was (half volume, or none).

The dummies at the store would not believe me when we showed them. The must be deaf or something.

Finally the bass just went and I showed it to them, and they gave me new speakers

I doubt your speakers are still under warranty. I think it is one year. But Harmon Kardon may still be able to help ya out. Do you have another computer that you could try this out on? It could very well be that the sound built into the mother board may be crapping out too. But you say that the internal speakers are still working... hmmm... it could be, still, some problem with sending the info over the bus to the usb?

Arg.. Haven't a clue really.
