I really don't know what's going wrong. I have a EyeTV device and up until recently it's been working fine. I have a second Hard Drive which I exclusively use for my EyeTV device to write to. Lately... when I watch a file that i've recorded.. or if the TV is on for an extended period of time... my Computer will completely Lock Up! I tried reformatting the drive and running Disk Utility and it shows up with no problems at all. when I tried manually copying a lot of files to the Drive it froze also. Does this mean I have a hardware problem with the drive. Why doesn't it show up as a disk problem? Any advice????

Thanks

This is a tough one... There are numberous possibilities... Can you try avoid using the second hard drive entirely for a while to see if everything runs stable?

Yeah... I just transfered the video storage to my main hard drive...
My concern with this is that with EyeTV... It is always writing to the hard drive as long as the application is open and quite frankily... that's a lot of writing! this is because the time shifting feature is always enabled. I wish I could disable it because sometimes I just want to watch TV and I would rather give my hard drive a break. I only have a computer as I live in a studio.

I'm thinking that maybe EyeTV wore out my older Hard Drive which is approaching 4 years old. It's an 80 Gig Seagate Slave drive. I was going to use it as primary storage for my EyeTV which could keep some episodes archived there. I guess I can still archive them there but I also wanted to use it as the buffer with my live TV window. It could also be a timing issue with this being a slave drive but it hasn't happened before. Things do seem to be more snappy with the Master Drive but I'm concerned about Longevity now.
