brushed metal iPod?

I'm pondering the idea of polishing or otherwise giving the back of my iPod some sort of brushed metal appearance. Any thoughts on the best way to do this? Is the metal casing thin enough that I risk destroying it by using some sort of power tool to grind away at it?

I think this would be a pretty cool look, assuming the thing won't disintegrate. Not to mention it wouldn't show fingerprints and other subtleties so clearly anymore.

Ideas, thoughts, concerns?

you could take some fine sand paper like 1500 and above and use that to buff the backing.

You could also check out iPod Lounge and iPod Hacks.

The iPod case is chrome. If you want to take sandpaper to it, it's going to look like an incredibly scratched piece of chrome...not brushed aluminum. If you're concern is the fact that the iPod is a fingerprint magnet, consider buying a case for it, which is a good idea for anyone who owns an iPod.

I extensively researched cases. Here's what I purchased. Extremely well built, solid, and well designed. Good people and quick delivery.

Ugh, dude that case is ugly! At least IMO.

Try www.xtrememac.com for a good looking case. Make sure to check the iPod Lounge in the other link first to get a discount coupon code.

I've been looking at this site:

The one iPod w/ the flame design actually looks pretty sweet...makes me imagine the possibilities.

There's a long thread discussing this:
