odd GVillage modem/fax problem, new one

	Today I reloaded GV Fax software. (It gave me a message that it was keeping some of the files from the past.) 1. I am fully able to use my FirstClass software via GVmodem. 2. But in all my attempts to fax a doc nothing would happen, not even a semblance of a dial tone. Once in a while I'd get a 'GV modem not found' message. Any thoughts. I run a 9600/350, OS 8.6 -- and it all worked perfectly well some months ago.
