Who can recommend an online vendor for Epson refills? I'm tired of paying $25 per cartridge!

Epson ink cartridge refills ? FORGET IT !

The dealers who sell bulk in rate each maker for refillability. On a scale of 1-10, with ten being nearly impossible, Epson gets a 9.5

The whole Epson ink system is set up to do two things: Prevent you from refilling, and assure a steady supplyp of ink buyers. They have to doscount the price of their printers to be competitive, but just like Gillette and the old Razor vs. Baldes analogy, Epson makes their money on ink, not hardware. It;s totally intentional.

But one other thing is even more sinister. The newest Epson cartridges actually have a chip built into them. That chip tells the printer when it has been nstalled and activated, and again when it has been removed. you cannot re-use a new Epson cartridge becasue of it...the chip won't let the cartridge work a 2nd time , ever. And since you have to remove the thing to attempt a refill ( which amounts to the degree of difficulty of neurosurgery, trust me ) you are screwed.

This is marketing for profit, not marketing for convenience and service to customers.
Epson sux in the ink department.

Use Amazon or Rhinotek inks instead. There are a few aftermarket ink vendors out there that beat Epson's outrageous cost by 40 percent or more. By the way, Epson ink cartridges are made in Mexico and cost them less that $ 2.00 to manufacture and ship into the states. Thank NAFTA for giving them this opportunity...they save a bundle on making the things, but those savings are never passed along to the consumer. We are hostage to oppressive globalism here... why do you think Chrysler ( excuse me, Daimmler-Benz-Chrysler) builds the great PT Cruiser in Mexico ?

I guess I was unclear. I did not mean actually re-filling cartridges, but rather finding brand X carts instead of epson. I found some at www.inkcarts.com for $7 ( black), $13 (color) with no tax and free shipping. I'll see if they're any good. Another place, www.ink4art.com had brand X carts for more money but offered a good 6-pack deal for $50.

Hi:

I felt I had to reply to what DewD had to say. I have an Epson 740 that I bought about 6 months ago. I do A LOT of printing, and after about 4 weeks, I ran out of ink. I went and purchased an ink refill kit, and I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. From start to finish the whole process took less than 10 minutes. It was very easy, there was no mess, and the printer works fine. If this is 9.5 on a scale of 10 for difficultly, I must be a GOD because it was very easy for me to do.

One of the most reliable places I've found for replacement ink cartridges for Epson printers is roxiesplace.com . I have an Epson 740 and the cartrideges cost 6.95 for black and 8.95 for color. They stock for all models. I don't know the prices for other models of Epson or other printers for that matter, but the prices are most likely in line with the 740 printer. BTW, they're fine cartridges. I've been using therm for over a year.

i get mine from:
http://www.nvo.com/marlco/merchandiseroom/

black ink carts are $3.50 to 4.50, color carts anywhere from 5.50 to 8.50.

i've never had a problem with using generic carts in either my SC 800 or SC 860.
