Hello all,

I am now the proud owner of a Swiss Army 512 MB USB2 drive from Victronix. It comes with a great little utility that will create an encrypted section of the drive and allow me to store encrypted data on it. The only issue I have is that the program is Windows only.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would allow me to encrypt data onto a USB pen drive that is cross platform for both Mac and Windows (and preferrably Linux also if possible...)

I know there are workarounds, such as using password protected Zip archives, but I would prefer just having an encrypted section of the USB drive.

Andy

No, not really. Encrypted zip is just about all you can do, since there are no encrypted cross-platform file systems.

With as small and handy as the USB drive in the Swiss Army knife is, I would think that simple physical security (keeping it in your own hands at all times) should be sufficient. The lack of cross-platform encryption for such applications seems to indicate that this is the thinking of the coding community as well...

I tend to think you may be right. I wasn't all the concerned about it. It hangs on my keychain. If I lose my keys, I have bigger issues than the data on my USB drive.
