I decided this morning that it was time to buy an iPod, went along to GH Lee in Liverpool and handed over the £350 and was given a lovely little box.

Got home and opened up, wow was i impressed...but thats kinda were the fun ended

Plugged the iPod into my Dual 533 runnning 10.1.3 and iTunes 2.0.3 did not start as i thought it might, nothing happed except the iPod started t charge. So I thought I'd let it charge for an hour and then have another try.

One hour later the charging bar has stopped on full so I un-plug and replug, this time to be told OS X cannot recognise the volume would i like to continue or initialise. After clicking continue I unplugged and turned off the iPod.

I then decided to turn it on and see what software version it was running, this turned out to be 1.0.4, the latest version. So now I plug the iPod in and fire up iTunes only to be told again it cannot recognise the volume.

So I decide I should restore the iPod, try that and at the end of restoring it freezes the G4 for 50 minutes so I give up and unplug.

Now the iPod is completely stuffed only giving me the greeting screen and refusing to turn off or be recognised by the restore software.

I'm really dissappointed and annoyed I wasted a whole saturday on this thing, I just hope I get a replacement that works.

One thing that did annoy me was I could not find a telephone support number in the iPod docs anywhere, very bad.

Mine just died today, after three months of moderate use. I noticed that in the couple of weekes just before it died, it seemed to hold less of a charge, and when I would plug it in, it would just charge indefinitely. Now, when I plug it in I get nothing. I even tried it on two different Macs.

I guess that extended warranty was a good idea.
