Hey all,

I've just started having some problems with Apple's Mighty Mouse. The scroll whell won't scroll properly downwards - only left, right, and upwards. It does scroll downwards occasionally, but even when it does this it is completely random.

Any suggestions as to what I should do? Take it back and get Apple to replace it?

Ask Apple to replace it. I've read of a few people having scrolling issues. Personally, my Mighty Mouse had a bit of difficulty scrolling right, but seems to have fixed itself and now works fine...

That little ball concerns me. Eventually (probably when the warranty runs out), that ball will need cleaning, right? Methinks I'll take it to an Apple Store a month before the warranty's up...just to be on the safe side.

I've had this problem three times now. My theory is that oils from your finger somehow gum it up. I used some isopropyl alcohol on the roller ball, rolled it around 360° for a few moments, and each time so far it has sprung right back to life.
