The New York Times reported on a new product called Securikey. It uses software and a USB key to lock a system from prying eyes. It's overpriced at $800 for five users, but the upsetting thing is this is Windows only. This is made by Griffin Technology, which previously only made iMic and other Mac-specific peripherals.
I don't consider the Securikey itself a great loss, but it may be the first step down the slippery slope for Griffin. Like I said, it's overpriced and I don't like the thought of USB keys always jutting out of the backs of my TiBooks. And Windows XP could use the help with security more than OS X does. Anybody know of a similar PCMCIA-based product? Might as well use that slot for something.
