I've never been a big fan of ATi stuff. All my macs have had built in graphics till I got my G4 with GeForce2. So I've practically given up on finding a PCI nVidia Geforce 2 I can use with my mac, to drive a pair of LCD's, an addition to my main screen (LCD #1 is sitting on my desk black, LCD#2 is down the road) Someone today told me about the Radeon 7000? I heard of this new 8500, but not the 7000. Its only $100-$130, has DVI, VGA, and S-Video, and can use any two at once, its PCI and it works with OS X. It seems like exactly what I'm looking for. I'd rather have a GeForce but time's a'wasting. There are plenty of these on ebay for like $50, not one for mac though, and their all or almost all AGP. And everywhere I look, even ati.com, is out of stock. What is the deal with these things?

The deal is they are great, cheap cards for a second monitor (CRT, LCD, TV, etc.) I bought one and have been very happy with it. If you want a second monitor w/ decent graphics, the 7000 is the way to go (especially since PCI Geforce's are hard to come by).

According to Macconnection they have some in stock.

So does Club Mac.

And MacMall too.

Now, they're web sites may be incorrect but it looks like retailers have them..

I got the one from macmall. I love how for they have four differnet 7000 models for PC with frices from $70 to $85 and the mac one is $120, thats ridiculous. Of coarse I bought it anyway and thats why they do it, those ässholes.

Are these Radeon 7000 PCI cards superior to the Radeon Mac Edition PCI? I have a Radeon PCI in my B&W G3 and have been wondering if there is a better (faster) card available for it.
