A few years ago I bought a PCMCIA Adaptec 1460B SCSI adapter for my windows 98 laptop so that I could connect a Nikon 35mm slide scanner. Now, I have a G4 powerbook running OsX10.4.3 and I might need to scan in some more slides, is it possible to use the above two items?

I've plugged in the adaptec card and nothing happens on my Mac! Is anything supposed to happen?! My slide scanner is in another city, but if there's a chance the SCSI card will work, then I might bring it to my Mac!

I'm not very hopeful but I thought I'd give it a try!

Nothing is supposed to happen. You don't get a phletora of windows telling you new hardware was recognized. Either it `just works' or it doesn't. If you want to know whether your PCMCIA card is recognized, you have to check in the System Profiler (located in /Applications/Utilities). Check PC Cards and SCSI in the Hardware section.

According to Adaptec, OS X does not support the card. Maybe you should consider getting one of the USBXchange adapters.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
