I've been having problems with iTunes and my Pro Speakers.
The Pro Speakers sound like they're broken (esp. when playing songs with strong base) in iTunes unless I set the "Pre-emp" to all the way down (to -12dB) in the equalizer, then they would sound fine. They sound fine when I play DVDs, etc.
They shouldn't behave like this right?
Anyone having similar problems?

Those speakers aren't know for their awesome "bass" response. Mine are the same. I borrowed a friends iSub.... overall sound got a little better, but I think the HK sticks and sub are what I'm going to go with...and kick the pro spkrs to the curb.
regards...

I think the pro speakers sound better than the hk sticks. I have both. I know, it's strange, but Cipher swears by the mini jack (headphones port) speakers, and after a lot of experience with both, I also have to agree that usb audio isn't good quality sound.

No I didn't mean I was expecting any "bass" response either, but using iTunes (before playing with the equalizer) they behave strangely - it's like they sounded like broken (like having put them in water and pulled them out). They sound fine when playing DVDs, and they also sound like normal speakers when I set the "pre-amp" all the way down to -12dB. I thought they should sound fine when the "pre-amp" setting is normal (at 0).
So iSub really makes a big difference? I didn't buy them cost I wanted to save some space. If its really that good maybe I'll get it.
I think the pro speakers sound better than the hk sticks.
Both with the iSub?

I don't like the sound of the soundsticks especially with mp3's. I like the normal iSub because it has better bass than the one that comes with the soundsticks. Personally, I would have the pro speakers/isub combo over the soundsticks.

I have had a similar problem, though much worse, with a G4 733 and Apple's Pro Speakers. The sounds-- from the startup chime on-- are cut out horrendously and are completely unusable in this state. Happens under OS 9.2.1, 10.0.4, and 10.1.
Suggestions? I'm really hurting for help here.

I have the combo.. sounds excellent for some music, and for those who do and are in itunes, generally you can get some VERY nice responses if you know how to adjust the eq settings.
However, the bitch with itunes is it's VERY buggy, I tried a CD that was a nightmare in itunes on good ole apple cd player and it sounded so good I was in tears.
It's true, the iSub has a much sweeter bass response, and unlike the soundsticks, the pro speakers have constant response no matter what
I just like the pro speakers better since they look cool, and only cost $130 with isub
I've tried dvd's on here.. all I can say is .................dude.... wow.....
