hi,

i've had problems with my mitsubishi diamond plus 91 monitor on both a g4500MP[radeon] and 450MP[rage128]. the monitor synchs, but does not activate on 1 in 3 reboots [give or take a few].

i posted the problem to mitsubishi/nec, and they say i need a vga-vga adapter. can anyone help me find one?

when i told them i'd never heard about such a thing, they responded:

<snip>

Don't feel bad. I had never heard of a VGA to VGA adapter either until we
discovered this issue.

Your issue is caused when the video card/motherboard/OS sends a compatible
sleep signal to the monitor but does not send a compatible wake up signal.
This is why the monitor does not wake up. Sometimes this occurs after the
system goes into power save mode as well. A VGA to VGA adapter will filter
the sleep and wake up signals so the monitor will stay active when a soft
reboot is performed. It will also allow the monitor to use its own
internal power management features instead of the computer controlling when
the monitor sleeps. I hope this answers your question.

You should be able to order a VGA to VGA adapter from your local computer
retailer. As this item is not very common it may be necessary to special
order it.

</snip>

any leads appreciated. and will my mac never sleep right again?

thanks.phred.lender

Griffin Technology (www.griffintechnology.com) makes a PC Sync adapter that is a VGA-VGA connection on it. I'm sure there must be others out there, but that is the only specific one I know of.

thanks. i've tried the fully-wired vga cable route and 9.1, so this will be my only hope, obi-wan.
