greetings!

well, i just recieved my new canon mini-dv camcorder. this thing is great. really small, great picture, and imovie picked it right up. image capture is another story.

i was dissapointed to find out that image capture only works with the usb port. while imovie can see and import my camera through it's firewire connection, image capture needs a usb connection which my camera does not have.

is there a way to use image capture through the firewire connection? thanks in advance.

iThink therefore iBook,

I have a Sony camera myself and i would be curious to see of that could be accomplished. Being Sony it naturally has a Memory Stick thingy, when i use a USB Reader which launches Image Capture automatically. So thats how i manage it, however Firewire would be cool...

If your Canon has the Multi Media Card for stills, you need a USB card reader like the Microtech ZiO! readers. Many new Canon's have a free rebate coupon for the reader. You can check www.canondv.com to see if your camera qualifies.

If your's does not have the card, I don't know a FireWire method to transfer stills short of capturing the video and saving stills from that.
