Hi. . . . I desparatly need some assistance!!!!!!!! I have a DP500 G4. I am running OS9.1, and have an EPSON STYLUS 741i. I have been using this for a while and printing has never been an issue. Then one day it just stoped working. I would go to print, but then nothing would happen, so I when to the chooser to see if somehow something may have happened in there, and I found that no printer was selected. There is an icon for an EPSON 740, but not the 740i. I don't know if that makes a difference. So I click on the printer, and it telles me to please select a port, but there are non to choose from. . . . what the F***. I an starting to get pissed at this point. So I try reinstaling the drivers, this does nothing. . . THERE IS NO PORT TO SELECT= I can't choose a damn printer. What is going on here. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you
A G4, what coulf be
better!!??

Okay, Go back to basics (literally). Put yourself in 9.1 basic extension set. copy the set, add the driver, restart and see if it works... If that doesn't then you need a new driver, go bug Epson..

Another recommendation, Have you installed anything recently and noticed that the printer stopped working. There may be another program or driver going after the port for some reason..

Let us know how it works out.

Is it a USB printer? Sometimes mine does this. Not sure if it's an epson related problem, or an apple problem. Try this. Shut down the computer, or just restart. Turn off your printer before you do this. Then..while the computer is booting up, turn back on the printer, but make sure you give it enough time from when you turn it off, as I always like to make sure it does that cleaning or whatever it does, rather than just the light for on coming on. For me it seems like if it does that warming up thing, it will work, and if not, then it doesn't work. Then once you get loaded, go to the chooser, and try finding and seeing if it works then. I'm sure I have some kind of problem, but I've just been working with it for a long time, so who knows if this just works for me or what. Good luck!

Make sure that "Apple Talk" is inactive. Epson 740s' dislike Apple Talk.
