I'm at my mom's trying to print from her G3 to a LaserWriter Select 360. It is hooked up right--we got the adapter thing when we bought the mac but, the driver doesn't show up in the chooser. Can someone tell me where I can go to download a current driver. She has OS 8.6.
P.S. I did search the archives and couldn't find anything.
Thanks,
kacey

I have a LaserWriter Select 360 networked between an old Mac a new iMac.
How, precisely have you hooked it up - what specifically is "the adapter thing" - need to know more.

I was afraid someone was going to need more specifics. I remember telling the sales rep that we wanted to buy a refurbished G3 and that we had a 360 that we wanted to hook up to it and I think she told us that we needed a serial to USB adapter but, I'm not 100% sure. I know it's not connected thru the printer port because my mom has an Epson 800 that's plugged in there. In case it's important, she also has a second monitor and a scanner hooked up.
I remember it printing before but, so many people have played with her computer that now the printer doesn't show up in the chooser. Instead it has LaserWriter 8 and Select 300 and neither of these work.
I did a search for anything LaserWriter but, all I found for the 360 was printer descriptions in my Extensions folder.
Now, what do I do?
Thanks for trying...

Very sorry, but I don't think it's likely someone can help long distance in the forum (but I could be wrong) there are just too many variables and unknowns there.
Suggest you get someone knowledgeable locally thru a MUG (Mac Users Group), hobby group, network administrator or tech from a local school that uses Macs or a reseller.
You might have to pay a reasonable fee, but at least you'll have full operation and satisfaction.

...so, there isn't any place I can go to download a printer driver? Oh well. I thought I'd try here first. I do have a local "Mac Doc" but, I like to try to solve my problems before I have to ask for help.

The LaserWriter 8 should work, but it sounds like things are messed up so that this may not be the answer because there are other problems present.
You could also go into the HD and open the Apple Extras folder which contains the LaserWriter Software for a number of models of LaserWriters.

Thanks!!! I'll check in the Apple Extras. Since it used to print before someone fooled with it, the software may still be in there. At least I will have tried before consulting a pro. lol
Thanks again,
