i went to Best Buy yesterday and saw a plethera of internal IDE CD-RW 8x and 12x drives. Is it feasible to put one of these into a G4 and have Toast recognize the drive and be able to burn?

The reason being the 8x was $169 and the 12x was $199. Alot cheaper than $349, the lowest price i've seen on a CR-R

thanx =)

Look at the www.xlr8yourmac.com drive compatibility database. You will see some ide/ATAPI internal CDRW drives that work with a mac.

Personnaly,. i chose to put an internal CDRW (a plextor 12x10x32, the best!) in an external firewire case (ADS Pyro). Everything works great.

ciao
