I really need advice. . . I just purchased a new Apple Studio Display 17 (Graphite, Non-ADC). I'm certainly happy with the style of its case, but the image is driving me crazy. I don't understand what's going on, but it just seems like something's off with the monitor. Things don't look nearly as sharp as what I'm used to. My Apple MultiScan 1705, while not perfect, had very good image quality IMO. This screen doesn't seem as good, and it doesn't seem as good the other current Apple monitors. I'm using the monitor at 832x624, but I've also tried 1024x768. Its a little better at 1024, but then text is too small for comfortable long term reading.

The problem is, there's no return policy for Apple products bought from MacWarehouse. I called Apple tech support and was told that my video card may be at fault. Does that seem right? (I'm using built-in video of the 8600/300; the screen is connected through a VGA adapter.) Should I get a new graphics card? Should I take the monitor in for servicing? I need to do something, because I can't stand it the way it is right now. I've tried adjusting the settings many times, and it doesn't help. I'v never had this much trouble, but I want to know if its the monitor, the computer or something else!

Thank you for any assistance any of you can provide.

Cipher, thank you for replying to my post. It's great to know that I'm not the only one experiencing problems with it. . . I've since taken the monitor to my local Apple dealer for servicing. Meanwhile, I've put reconnected my old 1705, and things are back to normal.

I just got my iBook SE Graphite today, shipped overnight from Outpost. Great company. I love the machine! So, while my new Studio Display isn't what I hoped for, my iBook is something straight out of my tech dreams!
