Since the announcement of the iPod, I haven't stopped thinking about when I will finally get mine

Its not yet available in AU, but when it is (2 weeks apparently), I'll be there!!
One thing that has become increasingly interesting is the interest it has generated with PC users, even hardcore line PC users. A mate of mine is a PC owner, but he'd rather a mac and it always admits it, just the price keeps him back. But, he wants to move on from his MD, and he totally loves the iPod, and is ordering one in Feb, which suprised me. He said even if XPod doesn't happen, its still worth it, he'll get me to load his music onto it via my G4

Now who thinks this will eventually lure him into getting a mac? Well, he already plans on buying an iBook in a year or two (by the time we are in uni, in year 12 now), so he's a pretty sure bet
Another friend is a hardline PC user. He hates macs, hates the lack of games, hates the hardware etc. Well, he loves the iPod too

he wants to get one "Off the back of a truck from [a mate]", heh, well, even if he thinks he's getting it via shady ways (wont end up happening), he's interested to say the least.
I think when Steve said that Apple has finally found the formula - he was dead on (maybe not the price, but I'm not complaining, $299

). The capacity, the looks (they LOVE the nokia 8250 style blue backlight hehe - phone junkies), and the mac fact doesn't bother them! (only encourages one, heh).
Well done Apple. Now send me my remote (IMHO should be free for all users who bought it before it will be included at MWSF - or a rebate or something...), and maybe chuck in a line in port on the remote, so that we can finally make use of the iPods secret MP3 encoding capabilities via the unused DSP chip
