I think you can judge for yourself.
And the prices

* Euro 629.00 incl. VAT

6 GB with Backlight

* Euro 690.00 incl. VAT

20GB con Backlight

* Euro 849.00 incl. VAT
Just to let you know 1 Euro is like 0,88$

go2mac has a comparison of that and the ipod, I don't think the iPod needs to turn into that crappy brick.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that has been around for a while. The use of USB is probably because it's marketed at the larger audience of PC machines, most of which are.. firewire-ly challenged.

My point is that I don't think it's an IPod imitation.

Checked out a few sites about this device - it does support different bitrates, although it looks like not VBR (although this may have changed as there's been several firmware updates). Price isnt too bad I suppose, since you get 20GB, although it sounds like Mac software is a little basic. You just encode the MP3s using iTunes or whatever then drag them across.

I'm quite tempted - I have a rev C imac so no firewire (so no iPod) and am going to be overseas for months next year, so having a jukebox-type device with a big chunk of my CD collection on it would be nice. I quite like the chunky looks too - wont be jogging with it though. I know USB is slow as hell, but I'll only be doing it once probably!

I dont know if that is such a good idea. I mean if you are willing to spend the money I would wait for Sonnet to come out with Harmoni (prob around mid Jan.) so you could add a FW port to your Rev C and then buy the iPod. I am not a HUGE fan of the ipod due to price but if i had the money to spend this would be the route i would go instead of this PJbox.

Plus you upgrade your iMac to 500MHz with a FW port in the process.
