Hi!

I'm seriously looking for a very compact, roughly 2 mega pixel digital camera.

The one that so far I think looks the best is the Canon PowerShot Digital IXUS V , but I'm worried that the Mac software could be kinda lame. 2 questions:

1) Anyone who has this, what do you think about the pic's, software, anything really??

2) Does anyone have a suggestion for any other Mac-compatible USB compact digital camera's??

Info on the IXUS V
btw, prices are in Aussie dollars, so US people, don't freak over high price!

Jeremy

The Canon should be a very good camera as Canon has been in hte phot business for along time. cnet.com has reviews on various items including digital cameras. As for the software, I wouldn't depend on any software included with the camera whether it was windoze or Mac.

Find a smart card reader or similar device to read the photos directly from the media card rather than download the pics from the camera. Much faster.

Then get a good program like Graphic converter to manipulate the photos.

I personnaly have an Olympus 1.3 Megapixel camera that takes great photos. 2.1 Megapixels should be even better.

Good luck

Thanks Craig, I'll keep all that in mind, and I'm checking out Cnet now on your advice.

Anyone out there have this camera??

Thanks again

I just bought an S110 for use with my wallstreet/233 and a PCMCIA CF card holder works well getting the pictures to the desktop where GraphicConverter does all else necessary.

The picture quality on both cameras is very good.
Hope this helps.

Shopping for a digital camera??

Go here: DPReview (Click me)
Information there is tremendous!

Personally, I have a Sony digital camera and love their products. They work great with macs and I just use photoshop for all my image manipulating needs.

Take it easy,
Mike

A couple weeks ago, I got Canon S300 Powershot. It's great. Small, powerful, easy to use, nice software. I have an iMac 333 and will be upgrading memory shortly, but I think this camera rocks!
Good Luck. J

i would recommend that you take a look at olympus cameras.

i have a d-460 1.3 Mpixel, and i love it. i've upgraded by buying rechargeable batteries, a USB smart media reader, and a 32MB card (which holds ~150 pictures at 1280X960).

this camera is about 1 year old.

olympus now offers 2+ M pixel cameras in the same form factor with built in rechargeables (i think) and USB connectivity.

check them out. olympus is know for high quality camera optics, and all my thousands of pictures (1-2000 in one year) illustrate this perfectly.
