i want to build a custom firewire drive so i can copy mp3's from my friends, is therea place where i can buy one of the little cards that are inside the case and then add/make my own case?? maby a firewire and usb adapter so i can go to pee cees and copy?


anybody have any suggestions/comments/places/experiences/anything?

Those cards need to be plugged in PCI slot, I don't think you can use it outside the case. If you need external drive, it's probably best to just buy an external firewire drive.

not the pci cards but the cards inside the enclosures for the drives they have an IDE ribbon coming out of them.

Hi PD. There's a problem with what you're asking here. And that's the fact that all the hardware you're describing is very recent stuff. If you were looking for something that'd been around for 5 years it would be easy and cheap to find. The FireWire and USB hard drive cards have only been around a short time. You're way better off just buying something like the 2 gig VST drive for 99 bucks and frequently dumping the stuff onto your G4s HD.

oh well i guess i will wait till something happens till i get one. i cant find any small vst drives for $99 though.
