I got a CD 20" a few months ago and noticed recently a very clear purple hue in the blacks. It is particularly noticeable from a slight angle from the side and from above. I don't notice it when looking straight from in front. However, this is not something my old imac G5 had, nor does my powerbook exhibit this kind of hue.

Luckily, Amazon has a special 3 month return policy around Christmas that lasts until end of January so they're sending me a new one. My question is whether this is common on these displays? It doesn't bother me tremendously, but because it's such an expensive display I expect better.

What's your experience with this display?

cheers,

Pete

Don't know why this was posted several times. There seems to be an incompatibility with firefox as I was getting error messages and yet it was posted. Moderators, please delete. Thanks

It happens on all browsers -- it's a server problem. For some reason, sometimes the incoming flow of new posts just... stalls (but they stay queued up and do eventually appear). When this happens, the acknowledgment times out, giving an error. Pressing "submit reply" repeatedly then causes repeat posts.

Just received my amazon replacement. Unfortunately, it's the same thing here. I'm just going to have to live with it. It's not really that apparent except at certain angles. You'd think that black wouldn't be such a problem to get right, but apparently it is.

I LOVE the Samsung 970P, but I'm so used to the widescreen that it would be hard to go back to regular - not to mention that it's 19". I'm not complaining. Very happy with the CD.
