My intellimoue explorer broke. The cord was twisted inside and apperantly cut itself. I later repaired it by cutting and reconnecting, soldering the wire, and altering the plastic shape. I had already ordered a replacement for my wearing out, soldered, falling apart mouse. The replacement got here just a few days ago. It is a different revision though. I sent an email to my friend describing it, and I will post it here. Ignore and redundant redundancy, speling, or as grammer,. Sorry about legnth, but anyone interested will be just that =)

I just read the back of the box on the mouse, and found that
it takes 6000 pictures per second*. my old one was 1500. This
coaxed me into opening the box. Good thing I did.

I cant get the cursor to "fall" after quick movement
anymore. It seems to move smoother, and it fits my hand
better. the thumb buttons are smaller, and harder to
hit/differentiate. It looks better, the led is brighter, the
pads on the bottom slide better (plastic, not rubber), and
it looks a lot better. I think I could get used to the thumb
buttons though, as one has a bump which identifies it.

it seems smaller somehow (narrower, but stretched
vertically). It has black sides instead of darker grey, and
the buttons are more rectangular than eliptical (the old one
was kinda...). The mouse has a sharper curve without making
all of the parts seem round. It is much more solid, as
pushing the top very hard only accomplishes in hurting your
fingers.

I have to say, that in this revision of the mouse...that
what microsoft housed the stolen technology in*1, is much
stronger and better designed. When you can afford it, buy
one, after a while complain it stopped working, and sell the
replacement. I really like this (I bet I find out they paid
apple to redesign it or something...).

DO IT!

remember though, this is how I felt when I first got the
original one. My opinion eventually changed with the wearing
out of buttons, the cheap (later, dead) cording, the crashy
drivers, and the wearing off of paint on the cover. I just
hope the "MICROSOFT" logo wears off like the last one.

new stuff- the led is brighter, upgraded from shiny to
blinding. The wheel is tougher to move and seems slower- I
upped the lines scroll from 3 to 5 lines. The side buttons
are too small now though

* I says "scanning your desktop 6000 times per second"

*1 a reference to the fact that MS stole the wheel from "goldman" or something, the "intelli eye" is licenced from HP, and the mose idea from xerox/apple.

I had the mouse installed for only minutes. I must reccomend this mouse, along with the seemingly manditory investment in USB Overdrive. I think i'll go try it out in unreal tourney =)
