Several weeks ago I heard someone talk about a Nikon Coolpix 885, which she tried to use on Windows XP. The machine crashed because the drivers were no good. I'm interested in this camera, but wonder whether you need software to connect this camera to the Mac (OSX) or whether it just pops up like a drive in the finder. She said she had to install software first for Windows.

Works in 9.

Should work in X. (I'll test later but I've got to run.)

Works for me in X! I bought one in January, and am extremely pleased with it! I carry it everywhere I go! I just plug it in, and iPhoto launches automatically. Apple also just released an update to iPhoto, which adds a few new features.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

This sounds great! But do you need to install special software for it, or not?
