I recently swapped out an Asante Talk 10BT-to-serial adapter in favor of a HPJetDirect EX Plus box. All Macs on my network see the printer and print to it just fine EXCEPT when a print job is sent to the printer (a HP LaserJet 5MP) which is processing another print job.
The first job being processed prints fine and the desktop printer driver moves on to the next spool file as the first job prints out. The LaserJet and Jet direct activity lights blink in anticipation with the new job, then all of a sudden, the Laserjet lights stop blinking and the "ready" light stays on. The JetDirect lights continue to flash as if they are processing data. After a few minutes, the driver says that the "connection has been made to printer but it is currently not responding to queries" and shows error -8993. This didn't use to happen with the old Asante Talk box. Any ideas?
