I'm thinking of getting a new PowerMac G4, but am undecided between the choice of Harman/Kardon SoundSticks and a set of Apple Pro Speakers plus the iSub. Does anybody have any advice or firsthand experience with both options? In particular, how good are the Pro Speakers on their own?

The G4'a Pro Speakers work with the Pre-amp in the G4, they sound awesome. Also they work with the iSub--also, an excellent piece of equipment.
The Soundsticks don't have the dynamic range of the Pro Speakers, IMHO, I couldn't recommend them.

Is there a website where I can get statistics or graphs of the dynamic range and frequency response of the Pro Speakers and SoundSticks, to compare them? Just the techno-geek in me wanting to know before purchasing...

I am using the Sound Sticks and iSub and they sound great! I listened to the Pro speakers at the computer store and they sounded pretty weak to me but they were not hooked up to the iSub.
