eeep! buying ipod delema! advice plz

Howdy, I am getting an iPod for my birthday, which is july 5.
I have waited for my baby (ipod) for aaggess now and i literally think about it every day (sad, i know), and everytime i go passed an apple shop, i play with the demo one.
Here's my problem.
should i buy a 10gb ipod now, (or arounfd the date of my bday), or wait until mid july (16-19 i think it is) for the macwork ny to see if a newer model is announced and then wait for it to be released into australia?
Any ideas if anything ipod-ish is being announced @ macword.
should i wait?
any advice appreciated. ty so much

I just baught the 10GB iPod (it's on it's way), cause i just couldnt wait. i had to give into temptation. I think Apple may release a new digital device @ MWNY. They MIGHT update te iPod as far as HD Space and pricing, but i love the way it is right now. Since your birthday is in July (like me), i'd recommend waiting till MWNY, cause getting presents before is kinda .... akward, and since you have a good reason to wait, you might as well, you may be plesantly surprised, and definately satisified.
But on the other hand, if this thing has been engraved in your mind since September, go ahead and buy it. Check out the topic "i snapped".

I just want my damn Remote that Ihave been waiting for over a year now, Damn it I don't need another digital device I just want to control my ipod from my pocket.
Oh and I would wait Toshiba already has a 15 and 20 gig size HD that can fit in the iPod, only a matter of time.

G'day Angus,
If you are going to wait till your birthdate to get it, then I will advise you to wait till Macworld NY 2002 is over. I understand that waiting another 2 weeks for the iPod that you have been longing for is sheer agony, it will prove to be a prudent move in the end.
I got the 10GB version after it was released. My philosophy since switching to Apple is "Get it when it is released!" 
If it takes me more than a week to decide, I'll wait till the next release.
