As said in the title, does anybody know if the iSub is powered off the USB connection, or does it have its own separate power supply to plug into the wall?

If it's the same as the sound sticks sub, then it's powered by its own separate power supply.

What? How can it be powered off a lowly usb port? No way it can get enough power from a usb port...

It uses a power brick. It's a nice Ice-colored brick--but a brick nonetheless.
